Announcement & Available platforms
It’s finally here! During a Nintendo Direct presentation, Supergiant Games confirmed that Hades II will exit Early Access and officially hit version 1.0 on September 25, 2025, making September an exceptional month for gaming, especially for this genre (Yes, i am looking at you, Silksong!). It will be available day-one on Windows PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), macOS, and both the original Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2. The console release is a timed exclusive on Nintendo platforms; PlayStation and Xbox versions are expected later, though no firm date has been announced.
Gameplay and the Story (No spoilers!)
Hades II is the long-awaited sequel to Hades (2020), and it marks Supergiant Games’ first-ever full sequel. Staying true to the roguelike action RPG formula, the game blends fast-paced combat, evolving builds, and divine boons from the pantheon of Greek gods. Players once again step into a world steeped in myth, this time following Melinoë, daughter of Hades and sister to Zagreus, as she faces none other than Chronos, the Titan of Time. The story weaves new gods, heroes, and legendary figures into the mix, keeping the mythological tapestry at the heart of the adventure, without giving away any spoilers.

Early Access & Updates History
Hades II has been in Early Access on PC since May 2024; macOS followed later. During Early Access it saw multiple major updates (for example The Warsong Update, The Unseen Update) adding new weapons, gods, bosses, story content, balance changes, quality-of-life improvements. Its patch history is long, with at least 11 patches recorded before the 1.0 release. One thing to mention is, on the initial Early Access launch, the game was abundent with content, almost at the same level the Original Hades had at full launch.
What’s New in 1.0 / What Players Think
The 1.0 update wraps up the main story, delivers final polishing and balancing, fixes many issues raised during Early Access. Players have been eager for this; many appreciate how responsive Supergiant has been to feedback, but some express concern about timed console exclusivity (i.e. having to wait for non-Nintendo platforms), or how the performance will hold up on less powerful hardware. For the handheld enjoyers, Hades II is SteamDeck verified and runs perfectly on it, with a more than decent FPS, so other, more powerful handhelds will have no issue running it.
Release Timing, Physical Edition & Pricing
On top of the digital release date mentioned above, a physical edition of Hades II for Nintendo Switch 2 (also compatible with original Switch) is set for November 20, 2025. It includes extras like a Character Compendium booklet, soundtrack, reversible cover. Digital pricing is reported around US$30 for its full retail version.
Conclusion / Takeaway
After a long wait, Hades II looks poised to deliver what fans hoped: more content, more story, more gods, more boons, more chaos, continued roguelike-action thrills, and the polish afforded by a robust Early Access period. If the performance lives up to expectations on Switch & PC, and cross-save works well, it may become another strong Supergiant hit. But for those waiting on PlayStation/Xbox, patience will still be required.
